Common yarrow is a perennial from the aster family with a height of 30-70 cm. The stem is erect, densely foliated, branched at the top. Leaves are gray-green pinnately dissected, succulent. The lower leaves are petiolate, large, 20 cm or more long. Flowers are white, less often pink in complex shield-shaped inflorescences. It blooms from June through September.
Common yarrow grows in dry meadows, pastures, steppe, forest belts.
Occurs occasionally in Krasnolimansk, Yasinovatsk and Pershotravnevye districts of Donetsk and Novoaidarsk in Luhansk oblasts. It grows well in culture.

Yarrow Pannonian grows ubiquitously in many areas, the second in the Seversky Donets valley. Pannonian yarrow has dark green leaves that are shallower than those of common yarrow. Н. А. Kaloshina found that these two species are promising for bioactive flavonoids and should be harvested.
The drugs have styptic, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, astringent, tonic, antispasmodic, expectorant, choleretic, lactogonous, anti-allergic, cancer healing and analgesic effect, as well as increase the number of platelets and their activity, shorten bleeding time and increase blood coagulation. It is established that 0.5% infusion and juice of yarrow herb accelerate blood clotting by 60-80% (E. Mikhailenko, V. Petkov), but never lead to thrombus formation.
It is used in medicine for various internal and external bleeding, gastritis, peptic ulcer, enterocolitis, bronchial asthma, and gynecological diseases.
Е. А. Ladynina and others recommend adding yarrow to collections for hypertension, atherosclerosis, obesity, asthenic conditions, neuroses and hysteria.

Baidalin) studied the effectiveness of treatment with 10% yarrow infusion in 24 patients with peptic ulcer disease of the stomach and duodenum, most of them showed a positive effect of treatment, especially in patients with normal and reduced secretory function. Infusion of yarrow in some patients will increase the acidity of gastric juice, so we do not recommend it in hyperacid gastritis.

Solomchenko in most of the 26 patients with hypoacid gastritis noted a positive effect after treatment with the collection: herb yarrow, St. John's wort, zopnik, goldenseal, melon, grass with chicory root and plantain leaves - 50 g each; 2-3 tbsp. spoonfuls of the mixture boiled for 5 minutes in 0.5 liters of water, insist 30 minutes - 100 ml 3 times a day for 30 minutes before meals for 1-2 months.
Н. И. Solomchenko in the regional central clinical hospital (chief physician N. К. Kokin) used in 30 patients with chronic proctosigmoiditis treatment with 20% oil tincture of raw flowers and leaves of yarrow pannonian microclysms according to the previously mentioned method and most of them noted a good wound-healing effect, and in 6 patients even ulcers of the rectum scarred. Apparently, this oil tincture can also be used internally for canker sores.
In India, yarrow is part of the drug LIV-52.
The plant is very popular in folk medicine, moreover, for stomach and intestinal spasms, diarrhea or constipation, anemia, chlorosis, tuberculosis of the lungs and lymph nodes, bronchitis, enuresis, nocturnal pollicitations, hemorrhoids, decreased appetite, worms, rheumatism, headache, dizziness, insomnia, jaundice, liver diseases, kidney, urinary tract, kidney stones, insufficient and painful menstruation, bleeding, chronic furunculosis, skin diseases and externally for bleeding from the gums and nose.
Poultices of yarrow herb, ground fresh leaves, decoction, juice, ointment used for wounds, festering wounds, trophic ulcers, scabs, diathesis, urticaria, eczema, burns, as well as for cosmetic purposes. With scabies and psoriasis make baths in a decoction of yarrow herb. The plant is contraindicated in pregnancy.
