Lupus erectus (potentilla tormentilla neck). Properties of lapchatka. Application of lapchatka in modern phytotherapy and treatment of diseases with it

Lapchatka erectifolia (Kalgan) is a perennial herbaceous plant of the family Rosaceae with a woody, cylindrical, horizontal, short, red-brown rhizome with numerous thin roots. The stem is erect, with hairs, branched at the top, up to 50 cm high. Stem leaves are trifoliate, sessile, with two large bracts. The flowers are small solitary flowers sitting on long thin pedicels. Corolla four-lobed golden-yellow at the base with a reddish spot. In other species of lapwort, the corolla is five-petaled. Lupus erectus blooms from May to August (Fig. 42).

Lupus erectus is distributed almost all over the European part of the USSR. Grows in forest glades, in sparse coniferous forests, between shrubs, in damp and dry meadows.

Rhizomes 3-7 cm long, without roots, are used. Collected during the dying off of above-ground parts in September, October or in April, May - before the appearance of root leaves. Lupus erectus has no odor, the taste is strongly astringent.

Chemical composition and properties of lapchatka



Useful properties of lapchatka have been studied by ancient healers and modern phytotherapists. Rhizome contains tannins (15-25%), starch, cinnamic, malic and ellagic acids, wax, resinous substance, gum, red phlobaphene, traces of essential oil containing sugar cineol (5%).

The properties of lapchatka erect help to fight many ailments. The plant is used to prepare many medicinal preparations.

Acts and Uses of Lomatium



Astringent, styptic and bactericidal properties of lapchatka (rhizomes) are used in medicine for various inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract (enteritis, enterocolitis, dyspepsia), as a styptic for gastric, intestinal, uterine bleeding. Externally, the use of lapchatka is recommended for inflammatory processes in the oral cavity in the form of lubricants and gargles, burns, wet eczema and other skin diseases.

Lapchatka rhizome was included in the State Pharmacopoeia of the former USSR in 1961.

In Bulgaria, the use of lapstka in the form of decoctions and tinctures is considered an effective remedy for diarrhea, dysentery, gastritis, achilia, stomach ulcer, as a styptic, as well as for liver diseases, jaundice, gout and rheumatism.

Externally in the form of decoction application of lapchatka recommended for wounds, contusions, hemorrhoids, eczema and in trichomonadal colpitis in the form of spritzing.

In domestic folk medicine lupchatka erect is used as an astringent, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, analgesic, choleretic, styptic, wound-healing, expectorant. Used properties of lapchatka in the form of infusion for diarrhea, gastrointestinal diseases, stomach ulcers, liver disease, gout, bleeding. Externally - for ulcers, wounds, burns, frostbite, sore throat and skin diseases.

We use the rhizomes of erect lupus as an astringent, bactericidal and styptic in dysentery and ulcerative colitis..
