Medicinal turfgrass (Melilotus officinalis L.)
Ukr.: burkun zhovtii. The plant is poisonous. Prescribed by a physician.
A tall biennial melliferous plant in the legume family. It blooms in July through August. Grows ubiquitously along roadsides, in fallow lands, fields, meadows, and weedy areas. For medicinal purposes, use the flowering tops of the herb melon without rough stems, which contain coumarins that give the plant a pleasant odor, essential oil, flavonoids, tannin, dicoumarol, vitamins C and E, mucus, resinous and other substances.
It has been experimentally established that the extract of the melilot depresses the central nervous system, has anticonvulsant, antispasmodic, narcotic, hypotensive, sedative, expectorant, laxative, vetrogonic, anticoagulating and fibrinolytic action (prevents the occurrence and accelerates the dissolution of blood clots), and also causes an increase in the number of leukocytes in patients with leukopenia due to radiation therapy.
Donnik medicinal is recommended for atherosclerosis, hypertension and coronary artery disease, thrombophlebitis, increased blood clotting, as an anticoagulant of indirect action, as well as an expectorant and anti-inflammatory agent. The Pyatigorsk Pharmaceutical Institute has obtained biogenic stimulant meliocin from medicinal and white melilotsin, which is 2 times more active than aloe extract and 3-4 times more active than FIBS.
In folk medicine is used in bronchitis, bronchial asthma, heart pain, inflammation of the ovaries, insufficient and painful menstruation, hypogalactia (reduction in the amount of milk in the breasts of nursing mothers), dropsy, cystitis. Externally - as an irritant, distracting and softening agent in the form of ointment, plaster, powder, infusion for compresses, baths, washes, crushed raw or steamed in water dry herb - in purulent wounds, abscesses, boils and other pustular skin lesions, mastitis, cracked nipples, hidradenitis ("bitch's udders") and inflammation of the eyelids.
Medicinal Honeydew
In Bulgaria, for headaches put on the head absorbent cotton soaked in alcoholic tincture of flowers and leaves of melilot (insist 10-15 days). To accelerate the maturation of furuncles make compresses of tincture or decoction of raw materials in vegetable oil. For poultices use a mild collection of herbs of turfgrass, chamomile flowers and raspberry leaves, taken equally, 3- 5 tbsp. spoonfuls of the mixture is poured with a small amount of boiling water, put on a gauze cloth and apply. on the sore spots (V. Petkov).
Ointment of flowers on butter oil is used for rubbing for joint disease. In inflammation of the eyes make lotions from the infusion of herb melon with honey.
For the maturation of abscesses and osteomyelitis apply green patch, made as follows: melt 12 g of yellow wax with 22 g of rosin and 1 tbsp. with a spoonful of beef fat, then add 1 tsp. spoonful of powdered herb melon grass and heated for 5 minutes on low heat with private stirring, then strain. Previously, melilot patch was prepared in pharmaceutical factories.
Ways of application:
1. Infusion of 1 tbsp. spoonfuls of raw material (5 g) in 200 ml of boiling water - 1 /3 cup 2-3 times a day (S. Я. Sokolov) as an anti-inflammatory.
2. Infusion of 30 g of flowers in 1 liter of boiling water - 50 ml every hour for bronchitis, insomnia, hypertension (M. А. Nosal).
3. 1 Art. A spoonful of herb melilot insist 4 h in 250 ml of cold boiled water, take 2-3 times a day as No. 1.
4. Honeydew herb and hop cones (1 tsp. each. spoonful of each) cook 5 min in 250 ml of water - 50 ml 3 times a day before meals for headache (V. Petkov).
5. 1 Art. a spoonful of a mixture of equal parts of herbs melilot, goldenseal and flowers of mother and stepmother infuse in 250 ml of boiling water, take 1 /3 cup 6 times a day for 3-4 weeks in inflammation of the ovaries (M. А. Nosal).
6. Ointment of equal parts of flowers and turfgrass and butter or from 1 part thickened to half of the decoction and 4 parts of the ointment base for furunculosis, joint diseases.
7. For external application 2 tbsp. spoonfuls of herbs donnik insist in 0.5 liters of boiling water for festering wounds, abscesses, arthritis.
In the Donbass, white milkvetch is also found (М. albus Deсr.); recommended by D. Muravyeva as an anticoagulant, and in folk medicine it is used in epilepsy. No harvesting.
Take a tincture of melilot orally should be taken only after prescription and under the supervision of a doctor. Overdose or prolonged use of them can cause nausea, vomiting, headache, drowsiness, various bleeding and bruising. Particularly severe poisoning can occur in case of violation of technology of drying and storage of melilot grass, as during rotting in it increases the formation of anticoagulant dicoumarin - a substance that causes severe bleeding (V. Petkov).
Dyer's Thorn (Genista tinctoria L.)
Gromovoy, drika, ukr.: drj, luskalo. The plant is poisonous, especially the seeds, prescribed by a doctor.
Drock dye-multi-annual semi-shrub from the legume family. Drock dye blooms in June and July. The fruits of Drosera dye are linear beans. Not eaten by animals. It grows in the northern regions of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts in pine forests, on their edges, on hillsides, mainly on limestone and sandy soil.
The tops of the plant are used, which contain alkaloids, flavone glycoside luteolin, essential oil, saponins, organic acids, resins, tannins and other substances.
The plant has long been used in folk medicine for edema of cardiac and hepatic origin, persistent and prolonged uterine bleeding, abdominal dropsy, thinning, diseases of the liver and gallbladder, kidney and urinary tract (pyelonephritis, cystitis, kidney stones jaundice, myxedema
and urinary tract (pyelonephritis, cystitis, kidney stones) jaundice, myxedema.
Dyer's Thorn
Some physicians report good effects of tea made from the herb of Drocus dye with honey for considerable loss of strength, heart weakness with low blood pressure. In Ivano-Frankivsk region it is used for bronchial asthma, and the seeds - for kidney stone disease. With dropsy use 10% tincture of white wine 1 tsp. a spoonful three times a day.
Contraindicated in pregnancy.
