Medicinal asparagus is a perennial in the asparagus family, 30-150 cm tall. Stems are numerous, strongly branched, glabrous. Flowers are bell-shaped, small, greenish-yellow. It blooms in June through July. The fruit is a globular red berry. Medicinal asparagus grows everywhere on floodplain meadows, grassy places, among shrubs, less often on sands. Cultivated as a vegetable and for decorative purposes (it is better to sow under winter).
Used rhizomes with roots of asparagus, which contain: asparagine, steroidal saponins, essential oil, carotene, carbohydrates, coumarin, in the shoots, in addition - vitamins Bi, Bg, C and nicotinic acid, in the berries - carbohydrates, xanthine, physalin and traces of alkaloids. The young shoots are high in nicotinic acid.
Decoction of asparagus rhizome has a strong diuretic, as well as hypotensive, tonic, sedative, antipyretic, lactogenic, antispastic, choleretic, anti-inflammatory, blood purifying, laxative effect, and also increases heartbeat and slows its rhythm, dilates peripheral blood vessels and relieves fatigue. Medicinal asparagus helps to eliminate chloride, phosphate and urea from the body.

Е. А. Ladynina and others recommend asparagus in diseases of the kidneys, bladder, prostate gland, cardiac and renal edema, atherosclerosis. Medicinal asparagus is used in folk medicine, in addition, for heart weakness, heart pain, palpitations, dropsy, hypertension, convulsions, epilepsy, liver disease, spleen, jaundice, cirrhosis of the liver, scrofulosis, rheumatism, gout, adenoma of the prostate gland, diabetes, kidney stones, bladder stones, allergies, acne, eczema, and decoction (infusion) of fruits - for impotence and hemorrhoids.
Л. Я. Sklyarevsky recommends asparagus juice with sugar in a ratio of 1:2 - 2-4 tsp. spoonfuls several times a day. Н. Г. Kovaleva used in acute and chronic nephritis with sufficient renal function, pyelitis and cystitis collection of asparagus roots and leaves of wild strawberries - 3 parts, grass Bouvitsa and root sorrel curly (or horse) - 1 part, nettle leaves and plantain - 2 parts, horsetail grass - 5 parts. For massive edema, you should add 1/2 part parsley herb; 1-2 tbsp. spoonfuls of collection brew 1-3 cups of boiling water, stew for 30 minutes (do not boil) - take during the day for 10 minutes before meals, the course of treatment 4-8 months.
Н. И. Solomchenko repeatedly used this collection in patients with chronic nephritis with nephrotic component and observed good results. In one patient, treated unsuccessfully for 3 months with conventional means, after taking this collection for 1 month disappeared large swellings and she lived for more than 10 years.
Methods of application:
1. 10% decoction of roots with asparagus rhizome or the whole plant - 1/2 cup 3 times a day as a diuretic, choleretic.
2. Infusion of 1 tbsp. spoonfuls of raw material in 1 cup of boiling water - daily dose in kidney disease, neuroses, atherosclerosis, hypertension.
3. 2 Art. spoonfuls of root or stems of asparagus insist 4 h in 400 ml of boiling water - 100 ml 4 times a day before meals as No. 1 (D. Pa-mukov).
4. 3 ч. spoonfuls of asparagus rhizome, young shoots and herbs to insist 2 h in 250 ml of boiling water - 15 ml after 2 h as anti-inflammatory (I. Д. Jurkiewicz).
5. 5 berries of asparagus insist 6-8 hours in 250 ml of boiling water (in the oven) - 15 ml 3-4 times a day for impotence (F. И. Mom dibs).

Plowed steelhead is a perennial from the legume family with a height of 30-80 cm. Stems branched, straight, red-brown, with or without prickles. Leaves are trifoliate, slightly sticky. The flowers are pink or whitish moth-like. The fruits are short cracking beans, making it difficult to collect the seeds. It blooms from June through August.

Plowed steelwort grows everywhere on floodplain and dry meadows, along the banks of water bodies. Grows well in culture, best sown under winter.
Common use of stalnick root, containing glycosides ononin and others, alcohol onocerin, flavonoids, essential oil, resins, mucilages, mineral salts, tannins and other substances.
Steelhead is used in medicine for hemorrhoids, rectal fissures and chronic constipation, uterine bleeding, especially at menopause. In folk medicine also used in inflammation and kidney stones and bladder, prostatitis, gout, arthrosis, rheumatism, various edema, dropsy, headaches, epilepsy, bleeding, infertility and other diseases, externally baths - in chronic dermatoses: eczema, acne, rashes, scrofula, furunculosis (in addition to internal use).
