In experiments on animals it was found that the preparations of hawthorn unipestiferous have a multifaceted effect: cardiotonic (cardiac), hypotensive, antispasmodic (dilates the heart and brain vessels), antiatherosclerotic, sedative, diuretic, antiarrhythmic, antiallergic and increase milk secretion (C. Much work on the study of hawthorn preparations and their introduction into medicine was carried out by Ukrainian scientists: professors S. А. Tomilin and N. С. Kharchenko. С. А. Tomilin noted that 10% tincture of raw flowers of hawthorn unipestic hawthorn increases the strength of heart contractions and establishes a balance between the strength of heart contractions and blood pressure: elevated it reduces, and reduced - increases. Increased doses of the drug have a positive effect in angina pectoris, rheumatism, neuroses, insomnia associated with nervous excitement, and other diseases. The action of hawthorn unipestic Ukrainian is well studied at the Department of Pharmacology, Kharkov Medical Institute N. С. Kharchenko and coworkers. Here was obtained the saponin drug krategid from the leaves, which causes an increase in heart function, reduces blood pressure for a long time, has a good sedative and antiarrhythmic effect. It can also be used for a long period in case of atherosclerosis (lowers blood cholesterol levels).

H. И. Solomchenko on the basis of many years of observation convinced that the best effect has a 20% tincture of fresh hawthorn flowers, appointed in large doses of 1/2-1 ch. a spoonful per appointment. М. А. Nosal recommended using the juice of hawthorn flowers with 90% alcohol in a ratio of 1 : 2, insist 2 weeks - 40 drops per reception. В. П.
