Dill fruits contain fenchone, anethol, flavonoids, fatty oil (up to20%). In addition, ascorbic acid, carotene, flavonoids quercitin, isoramnetin, and kaempferol are found in the leaves.
Action and application
.Experimentally established that the herb dill in the form of infusion introduced intravenously reduces blood pressure, dilates blood vessels, excites the activity of the tired heart, relaxes the intestines, reducing its peristalsis and increasing diuresis.
Dill herb stimulates the appetite, has an antibacterial effect, increases the body's resistance. The preparation from dill seeds anetin (purified total product obtained from the fruits of garden dill) is used in the treatment of chronic coronary insufficiency and for the prevention of angina attacks, as well as spasticity of smooth muscles of the abdominal cavity organs.
Infusion of dill herb is used in hypertension stage I-II. There are indications for the use of dill essential oil as a lactation stimulant. It is also used as an expectorant, loosening agent.
Dill water is used in pediatric practice for gastrointestinal pain.
In Bulgaria, dill fruit is used as an antispasmodic, tonic gastrointestinal tract, enhancing lactation, soothing insomnia and colic of various origins means.
