Zorya medicinalis grows in western Asia. Widespread in the middle and southern strip of the European part of the USSR. In the wild, medicinal zora is rarely found. Cultivated as a medicinal plant.
The root, seeds and above-ground parts are used. The odor of medicinal zorya has a specific, pungent, reminiscent of celery, the taste is sharp, brackish-bitter.
Chemical composition and properties of lovage
The properties of lovage are poorly understood. Zori roots contain starch, sugars, tannins, coumarin, malic acid, resins, gum, essential oil (C. А. Tomilin). According to Bulgarian scientists, found essential oil in fresh roots (0.1-0.5%) and in dry roots (0.6-1%), resinous substances, rubber, sugars, starch. The essential oil contains terpeneol, cineol, carvacrol and other terpenes (D. Iordanov, 1963).
The properties of lovage have been used by healers and modern phytotherapists.
Action and treatment with lobster
In the scientific medicine of the USSR, treatment with lubistock was not used.
In France, the root is used as a diuretic, appetite stimulant and digestive aid, for flatulence and as a menstruation-enhancing remedy, as well as for dropsy (the properties of lubistock are similar to rosemary, having a similar effect on the body). It can be used as an infusion (5 g per 500 ml) (Trouard Riolle, 1964).
The root, leaves, young shoots are used in Austria; it is recommended as a diuretic and mucus-dissolving agent (in the form of infusion, powder and for baths). Treatment with lubistock is prescribed as a diuretic, which affects significantly the composition of the urine and primarily the removal of urea. Very large doses may cause kidney irritation. If you have kidney inflammation or any other kidney disease, zorja is not recommended (even in food as a condiment). Roots and rhizomes can be used as a laxative in the form of infusion, as well as for gastrointestinal diseases, flatulence. Decoction has a beneficial effect on unclean skin, it is good to add to the bath (40-60 g per 4-6 liters of water for one bath). Powder 3 times a day 1 g. Infusion of 3 g per 250 ml of water (daily dose).
In Bulgaria, the root has been found to be diuretic, analgesic and appetite stimulating. It is used to treat lovegrass inside in the form of decoction for swelling of the legs, inflammation of the kidneys and bladder, gout, rheumatism, catarrh of the upper respiratory tract, stimulates bile flow, with menstrual disorders and in the form of baths for skin diseases and purulent wounds.
A decoction of the roots or the whole fresh plant is used for baths.
In the GDR zori root is used as a good diuretic, boiling it is not recommended, as boiling loses valuable substances. Treatment with lovage is recommended only under the supervision of a doctor. Zori root is mentioned in all medieval medical books (Dorfler, Roselt, 1964).
In domestic folk medicine, medicinal zorya is widely used for kidney disease, dropsy, hysteria, nervous diseases, palpitations, bronchitis, difficult childbirth, female diseases, stomach diseases, as an anthelmintic and diaphoretic. The properties of lovage can fight infectious diseases.
In Ukraine, medicinal zorya or lubistock is one of the most popular plants, about which folk poems and songs are composed, just as birch, rowan, kalina, etc. are sung in Russian songs. Used root zori in heart disease, kidney disease, dropsy, stomach diseases, as an expectorant for lung diseases, flatulence, fever, externally to strengthen the hair: grated leaves applied to the head with headache, etc. д. It is used in the form of tea, decoction, tincture and powder.
We use the above-ground part of zori in paresis and neurosis..
