Eczema is a chronic recurrent skin disease caused by a specific inflammation of the predominantly papillary layer of the skin. The development of the disease is based on a specific predisposition of the body, which is explained by neurogenic and allergic mechanisms.

Eczema often begins acutely and is manifested by a rash of vesicles, which open fairly quickly. Small pitting erosions with dew-like drops form in their place. As the inflammatory processes subside, the number of vesicles decreases and fine bran-like desquamation develops on the surface of the affected areas. During this period, some of the vesicles shrivel into small fatty bubbles, in which patients experience itching. It is not uncommon for eczema to recur. The affected areas quite often become wet (acute wet eczema).
