Ophthalmic and oral diseases (rhinitis and laryngitis)

Reinit

.

Rhinitis is an inflammation of the mucous membrane of the nose.

Rhinitis has three stages. The first stage, lasting from a few hours to 2-3 days, is characterized by a feeling of tension, dryness, and itching in the nasal cavity, reflex sneezing, and to a lesser extent, lacrimation. The patient may complain of headache, general malaise, a slight increase in body temperature.
If the inflammatory process was not eliminated in time, then rhinitis passes into an acute stage, when transparent nasal discharge appears, sometimes in very large quantities. There is nasal congestion, difficult nasal breathing, nasality, decreased sense of smell.

In the third stage of painful rhinitis goes to subside: improves nasal breathing, nasal discharge take mucous-purulent character, their number is progressively reduced.

In influenza rhinitis, its course is longer, in some cases it is accompanied by small nosebleeds, pronounced headaches, mainly in the temples, forehead and eye sockets. If rhinitis is left untreated, complications arise as well.

Usually, acute rhinitis lasts up to 7-10 days. In some cases, not being timely treated, runny nose acquires a chronic course, with periodic exacerbations, which can lead to the development of certain complications in the form of inflammation of the sinuses, auditory tube and others.

Quite often acute rhinitis turns into chronic rhinitis. It is characterized by more pronounced dystrophic changes in the nasal mucosa. In children, chronic rhinitis is often a consequence of adenoids, maxillary sinusitis.

People's medicine uses the following remedies for rhinitis.

Cherry. Its leaves are used in a mushy form on tampons for nosebleeds.

Lipa. It is recommended that the patient bleeding half of the nose inhale a fine rhinitis powder prepared from dried linden leaves.

Oak. For nosebleeds, it is recommended to inhale crushed powder from rhinitis oak bark, then, tilting the head and pressing the wing of the nose with a finger against the septum, sit for 10 minutes until the nosebleed stops. Such rhinitis powder will reduce spasm in the sinuses and make breathing easier.

Common hazel. 10 tons of male flowers or earrings, pour 500 ml of wine brought to a boil, infuse. Take one at a time, 1-2 cups a day.

Lemon. Squeeze some juice from the lemon directly into the palm of your hand and try to suck it in with your nostrils a few times. There is a burning sensation, but it is necessary to be patient and after a few minutes rinse the nasal passages with a weak solution of table salt. Repeat 2-3 times throughout the day.

Prepare the composition: in equal parts take anise fruit, raspberry fruit, willow bark, linden flowers, leaf of mother and stepmother. A tablespoon of the mixture is brewed with 2 cups of boiling water, boil for about 40 minutes and strain through gauze. Drink as a hot tea as a diaphoretic in acute rhinitis.

Laryngitis

.

Laryngitis is an inflammation of the mucous membrane of the larynx. A distinction is made between acute and chronic laryngitis.

Acute laryngitis most often occurs in acute catarrh of the upper respiratory tract, influenza, whooping cough, scarlatina, etc.

What are the complaints characteristic of acute laryngitis? First of all, patients complain of a sensation of dryness, feverishness, scratching in the throat. The cough at first, as a rule, is dry, and later is accompanied by coughing up sputum; the voice becomes hoarse, coarse or completely silent.

Sometimes laryngitis causes pain when swallowing, headache and a slight rise in temperature. The duration of the disease, of course, if the treatment prescribed by the doctor is followed, usually does not exceed 7-10 days.

Pain on swallowing (resembling angiosis) is usually observed when the epiglottis or the posterior wall of the larynx is involved in the inflammatory process. The difficulty in breathing may be due to narrowing; of the vocal cleft due to spasm, edema or even abscess.

Acute laryngitis (as well as chronic laryngitis) can only be diagnosed by laryngoscopy (a special instrumental examination of the larynx). Such a study helps, firstly, to clarify the diagnosis, secondly, to identify the prevalence of inflammation in different parts of the larynx and nearby organs, and thirdly, to exclude more serious pathology (say, malignant tumors). Having thus clarified the diagnosis, the doctor prescribes adequate treatment.

Chronic laryngitis develops as a consequence of periodically recurrent acute or prolonged inflammatory processes in the nose or its sinuses, pharynx.

Contribute to the transition of acute laryngitis in chronic smoking, abuse of spicy foods, alcohol, frequent straining of the voice.

Chronic laryngitis is accompanied by complaints of patients with hoarseness, rapid fatigue of the voice, a feeling of sadness, perspiration in the throat, which causes constant coughing. Complaints, as we see, are similar to those in acute laryngitis, but in contrast to the latter they are less pronounced clinical character. And the temperature here is usually normal. In the exacerbation of the chronic process, the complaints are more painful. Laryngitis in most symptoms is increasing in its manifestation.

Natural medicine treats laryngitis with the following remedies.

Lemon. An effective way to treat the condition is to boil 1/2 cup of lemon juice and a cup of honey lightly over low heat and take 1 teaspoonful at 5-minute intervals until improvement occurs.

Oak. Prepare an infusion of laryngitis: 1 tablespoon of bark pour 1 cup of boiling water, insist 3-4 hours, strain. Apply the infusion from laryngitis to gargle the throat.

Walnut. Prepare an infusion of laryngitis: 1 tablespoon of crushed leaves pour 1 cup of boiling water, insist 1-2 hours, strain. Take 1 tablespoon 4 times a day. And also use the infusion for laryngitis for gargling.

Prepare the composition: mix in equal proportions of linden flower and black elderberry. 2 tablespoons of the mixture brew in a glass of boiling water, boil for 10 minutes. Decoction to drink hot as diaphoretic in acute illness.

Eucalyptus. Its essential oil is used for inhalation of the respiratory tract (from wheezing in laryngitis). Often this oil is mixed with menthol to enhance the effect.
White fir. 80 g of buds pour 1 liter of water, boil for 10 minutes. Conduct inhalations in the morning and evening. Never go outside immediately after the procedure.
