Flower (Tanacetum vulgare L.)


Wild rowanberry, privoroten, glystnik, ukr.: the tree is yellow, pizhmo zvychayne. The plant is poisonous. Е. А. Ladynina considers it mildly toxic.

Common fiddlehead is a 50-150 cm tall perennial from the aster family with a strong characteristic camphor odor. The stems are strong, branched in inflorescence. The leaves are pinnately dissected. Baskets without tongue flowers, gathered in a dense shield, yellow. It blooms in June through August. The common fiddlehead grows everywhere along riverbanks, dry meadows, beams, roadsides, margins of fields, forest belts, forest edges and glades, among shrubs as a weed.

The inflorescences are harvested by cutting off the short pedicels with a knife. In the household, the clinging tops with flowers of fir-tree are harvested, less often the seeds. It was found that the activity of raw materials after storage decreases in 2 months by 15%, during a year - by 25%.

Inflorescences and leaves of pyzhma contain essential oil (up to 2%), which includes poisonous thujone, as well as other terpenes, flavonoids (acacetin), alkaloids, trace elements, organic acids, tannins and bitter substances (tanacetin), vitamin C, carotene.

It is used in medicine for worm infestation (ascarids, pinworms, vlosoglav, solitaire), giardiasis, diseases of the liver, biliary tract (hepatitis, cholecystitis and cholangitis) and intestines. The inflorescences of the fenugreek are included in the collection according to the prescription of M. Н. Zdrenko.

И. X. Garifulin successfully used 5% infusion of flowers of pyzhma in peptic ulcer disease of the stomach and duodenum. We have used 5% infusion of flowers of fenugreek in 26 patients with chronic cholecysto-hepatitis, in 19 of them we noted a good immediate result of treatment.

At the All-Union Institute of Medicinal Plants, the choleretic preparation tanatsin, which is not approved as a medicinal product, was obtained and studied long ago.

In folk medicine, faggot is also used in fever, jaundice, hypacid gastritis with delayed evacuation, enterocolitis, gastrogenic diarrhea, dysentery, flatulence, stomach and intestinal spasms, nephritis, cystitis, kidney stones, migraine.

Employees of the Tomsk Medical Institute obtained positive results in the treatment of patients with hepatitis and cholecystitis (also giardia) 5 - 8% infusion of flowers of pejama - 3-5 hours. spoonfuls 3 times a day for 30 min before meals, children 5% decoction - 10-15 ml depending on age.

It is recommended in rheumatism to use tincture of 50 g of inflorescences of pyzhma in 0.5 liters of muscat wine for 8 days, take 30 - 40 ml after two main meals (N. Г. Kovalev).

With worm infestation prescribe infusion of 1 tbsp. spoonfuls of flowers and leaves in 250 ml of boiling water - all drink on an empty stomach, after 5 hours give a salt laxative; or infusion of 3 tbsp. spoonfuls of flowers in 1.5 cups of boiling water - 15 ml 3-4 times a day; or powder of flowers or seeds of pyzhma 0.5-1-3 g (up to 1/2 tsp. spoonfuls) 2-3 times a day, children from 10 to 15 years the dose is reduced by 2 times, and at the age of 5-10 years - 4 times.

In Bulgaria against worms use a mixture of 1 tbsp. spoonfuls of powder of flowers and 100 g of honey - 1 tbsp. each. spoonful after 2 hours and so three times, 2 hours after the last intake take a laxative (D. Pamukov).

Leclerc for a more effective anthelmintic treatment recommends 8 g of a mixture of equal parts of flowers of fagus, bitter wormwood and chamomile brewed in 250 ml of boiling water, insist, strain and administered in enemas (cit. By N. Г. Kovaleva) .

Against pinworms 3 g seeds (1h. spoon) insist in 100 ml of water at a temperature of 60 ° for 3 hours, strain. The infusion is inserted into the rectum and kept there for 10- 15 min, done at night for 3-5 days in a row.

М. А. Nosal at the same time recommends 1 tbsp. spoonful of seed powder and two garlic cloves cook in 0.5 liters of milk for 10 min in a closed vessel, strain and administer in enema still warm, keep longer. This procedure can be repeated as needed. However, this treatment should be done under the supervision of a doctor.

At home for a number of diseases use 10% tincture of flowers of fagus on white wine - 15 ml every 2 hours. Externally, tincture of leaves and flowers used for gargling with stomatitis, for spritzing with bleaching, for washing hair, dandruff, for rubs, compresses and baths - with gout, rheumatism, arthrosis, joint pain, foot pain, leg cramps, sprains and bruises. Steamed flowers in the form of a compress applied to boils and swollen places. Juice of the plant, or 10% alcohol tincture, or powder for powdering, or 5-50% ointment - in purulent wounds and ulcers, abrasions, bee stings, scabies and other skin diseases.

In Belorussia, children are bathed in a decoction of flowers of the feverfew when frightened. Faggot preparations are contraindicated in pregnancy and are not recommended for young children.

Methods of application:


1. Infusion of 1 tbsp. spoonfuls of flowers of pyzhma in 0.5 liters of boiling water (insist in a thermos) - daily dose for hepatocholecystitis, migraine, epilepsy.


2. Infusion of 3 tbsp. spoonfuls of flowers of pejma in 0.5 liters of boiling water 250 ml morning and evening as anthelmintic (N. С. Kharchenko et al.).


3. Infusion of 5 g of flowers of pyzhma in 250 ml of boiling water or 5% decoction of flowers of pyzhma - 1/3 cup 3 times a day for enterocolitis, diarrhea.


4. 1 Art. a spoonful of the herb of sawdust boiled for 5 minutes in 400 ml of water, insist, drink 100 ml 3 times a day before meals for gastritis and other diseases.


5. 5% infusion of flowers of pejama - 70-105 ml 2-3 times a day before meals for peptic ulcer.


6. Powder of flowers - 1-3 g, or the seeds of fagus - 0.6 g 3 times a day before meals as an anthelmintic.


7. 25% tincture of flowers of the flowers of scrooge on 40% alcohol - 30-40 drops 3 times a day for stomach diseases and externally (A. П. Popov).


8. Powder of flowers of scrooge - 10 g, pumpkin seeds - 70 g, take for 2 days - with tapeworms (B. Г. Wolynski).


9. Flowers and horsetail herb - 4 parts each, herb succession - 5 parts, black currant leaves and elderberry flowers - 3 parts each, nettle leaves dicot - 2 parts; 4 tbsp. spoon collection in 1 liter of water to bring to a boil, strain, pour into the bath temperature 37-40 ° C, take daily or every other day, the course of 10-15 baths, if there are no contraindications. After a few months, repeat the course of treatment for joint pain (E. А. Ladynina).


10. 1 Art. a spoonful of inflorescences of the scotch bark boil 1-2 minutes in 250 ml of water, insist - 30 ml 3 times a day before meals for 1 - 2 months in early menopause and hypomenstrual syndrome (E. Т. Mihailenko).



In England, to control Colorado potato beetle, fir is planted between rows of potatoes. The powder of the flowers and leaves of the fir tree is used in the home to control insects - flies, fleas, cockroaches, bedbugs and moths. Leaves are used to flavor salads, preserves, confectionery, sometimes instead of ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg (B. Chopik).

In villages, some flower growers cultivate balsam fir (T. balsamita L.) (Folk names - kalufer, kanupir) is a perennial fragrant plant. Used as a diuretic for dropsy, stomach and intestinal pain, flatulence, worms, amenorrhea, externally - for hemorrhoids, burns and other diseases. Use it in the form of an infusion of 1 - 2 tsp. spoonfuls of leaves and flowers in 250 ml of boiling water, drink in cups. Juice from the leaves of pyzhma - 15 ml after 2 hours (with chlorosis, dropsy). From the dried leaves and flowers of fiddlehead prepare tincture on wine (E. Н. Zalesova).

Physician Yu. А. Trubchanin (d. Krasnoarmeysk) in the treatment of amenorrhea recommends tincture of 50 g of Kalufera leaves in 750 ml of vintage wine (insist 3-4 weeks) - 50 ml 3 times a day..
