Zopnik prickly - a perennial from the family of sponges. Flowers are double-headed, purplish-purple, gathered in whorls. It blooms in June through July. It grows everywhere on slopes of gullies and river valleys, rocky outcrops, forest edges, glades and in the steppe.
Here also grows the tuberous zopnik (Ph. tuberosa L.); height 70-120 cm. The flowers are purple, the roots are long with rounded small globular tubers that can be eaten fried or boiled.
The chemical composition of the former is poorly understood; an essential oil has been found in the herb. Alkaloids, essential oil, tannins, vitamin C, trace elements were found in the herb of tuberous zopnik.
Zopnik pricklypear is part of the collection according to the prescription of M. Н. Zdrenko. It is established that the infusion of herb zopnika has a diuretic effect, increases blood clotting, causes a significant narrowing of the lumen of blood vessels, has a stimulating and tonic effect, as well as gives vigor to the body and increases immunity to disease.
