Common pine (Pinus silvestris L.)


Ukr.: pina zvychaina.

Buds and annual needles of pine are used for medicinal purposes, in the household - oleoresin (resin) and products of its processing (turpentine, rosin, tar) and young cones. The buds contain essential oil, resins, vitamins C, K, tannins, bitter substances, mineral salts. Winter pine needles are rich in vitamins C, K, E, carotene, and also contains terpenes, alkaloids, phytoncides; in oleoresin up to 35% of essential oil and resin acids.

Common pine has expectorant, disinfectant, choleretic, diuretic, blood purifier, diaphoretic, analgesic, deodorizing, tonic and anti-inflammatory action.

Pine buds are used in medicine for chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma, whooping cough, as well as inhalation for diseases of the upper respiratory tract, needles - with hypo- and avitaminosis C.

To prepare vitamin infusion take 30 g fresh pine needles, washed in cold water, and boiled for 20 minutes in 0.5 liters of water in an enamel bowl with a tightly closed lid. After cooling, strain the decoction, add sugar to taste and take during the day.

Coniferous extract (liquid or dry), pine buds are used for therapeutic baths in the treatment of neuroses, insomnia, diseases of the cardiovascular system and joints. For baths also use a decoction of 0.5-1 kg of young pine shoots in 3 liters of water, hot baths - with whites.

Purified turpentine is used for inhalation for respiratory diseases, as an antimicrobial and deodorizing agent, eliminating the unpleasant odor of sputum in suppurative lung diseases. Externally, it is used as an irritant and distractant in rheumatism, neuralgia, gout, sciatica and myositis.

Turpentine in the form of emulsion added to baths in the treatment of Zalmanov method - for joint diseases, sciatica and neuralgia (as prescribed by a doctor).

Н. И. Solomchenko used 20% alcohol tincture of pine buds in 56 patients with chronic bronchitis, chronic pneumonia and pulmonary tuberculosis, in 26 of them noted good, and in 19 patients satisfactory expectorant effect. .

Pine buds are used in folk medicine for coughs, purulent sputum, pulmonary emphysema, bronchiectasis, chronic pneumonia, pulmonary tuberculosis, whooping cough, pleurisy, influenza, heart disease, hypertension, dropsy, rheumatism, arthritis, cholecystitis, cholangitis, pyelonephritis and cystitis, chronic rashes.

Tincture of young green pine cones is also used in hyperacid gastritis, peptic ulcer and respiratory diseases (100 g pine cones cut, pour 0.5 liters of 40% alcohol, insist 2 weeks, take 15 ml 3 times a day with water before meals for 1 month). Apply 20% tincture of cut dried pine cones; or 1 tbsp. spoonful of them boiled in 0.5 liters of water in a closed enamel bowl for 15 minutes, take during the day. Some people make jam from young pine cones and use it for coughs. Н. И. Solomchenko in 46 patients was convinced of the effectiveness of 20% tincture of raw and decoction of dry cones in chronic bronchitis.

Some foresters 30 g of young pine shoots boiled in1L of milk, take 250-300 ml 3 times a day.

In the Crimea and other places in the spring collect flowering yellow pine cones, dry them in the sun, from them then pour pollen. Take it on the end of a knife (1 g each) 2-3 times a day before meals. According to homeopaths, it is a good remedy that protects the body from premature aging and lengthens life (M. Jadan).

Others recommend pollen as a general tonic for various diseases or 1 tsp. spoonful of pollen mixed with a glass of honey and take 1-2 tsp. spoonfuls 3-4 times a day before meals.

In the household, pine oleoresin is kept in the mouth and saliva is swallowed all the time (in gastritis and peptic ulcer). Oleoresin lubricate chronic purulent ulcers, and warm is used for wet eczema, cracked skin. Oleoresin of coniferous trees put on the callus, glued with a band-aid, change it after 24 hours and so 2-3 times. Preliminary callus should be well steamed in hot water. Oleoresin is melted, smeared on canvas and applied to boils to ripen faster.

Inside take oleoresin up to 5-6 g per day, in China - in a single dose of 0.5-2 g.

Turpentine is used for hemorrhoids 20 drops in 50-60 ml of water (daily dose) for 2 weeks, after 6 months the course of treatment can be repeated.

Turpentine from pine or spruce - 5 drops on sugar 3 times a day for 15 minutes before meals for acute and chronic bronchitis and bladder stones.

In the effectiveness of pinene (purified turpentine for diluting paints) H. И. Solomchenko was repeatedly convinced in patients with post-influenza tracheobronchitis with persistent cough. Turpentine for inhalation is recommended 10-15 drops per 250 ml or 1/2-1 tsp. spoon for 1 liter of boiling water for 5-10 minutes (if there is no allergy to it). For a lung abscess, inhalation is done with a pocket inhaler. Ointment of 1 part turpentine and 2 parts of petroleum jelly or 30 ml of castor oil and 15 ml of turpentine (warm) rub sore places in neuralgia, as well as rub the chest at night with bronchitis and warmly cover the patient. In sciatica from rye flour on turpentine knead dough, from which roll out tortillas and apply to the sore spot, covered with parchment or wax paper. Pine turpentine is also used as an antidote for phosphorus poisoning (20-50 drops in milk or sugar), with dropsy, gallstones and solitaire.

Caution is required when treating with turpentine, as it is poisonous in large doses. Urine tests should be done during treatment. Therefore, treatment should be carried out under the supervision of a doctor.

In arthrosis pine and birch bark - 1 kg and oak - 100 g, boiled 1 h in 3 liters of water - 100 g 3 times a day before meals.

In anemia 2 stage. spoonfuls of fresh pine needles rubbed in 250 ml of warm water, insist 2-3 hours in a dark place, add honey - 15 ml after 2-3 hours.

In Bulgaria, 100 g of pine buds are boiled in 2 liters of water until 0 remains.5 liters; strain, mix hot with 250 g of sugar, and after cooling - with 250 g of honey and add 10 g of cinnamon, 5 g of cloves and 1 crushed nutmeg - 15 ml before meals in sore throat, bronchitis, rheumatism, colds, sciatica, etc. (Д. Pamukov, V. Petkov et al.).

Tar as part of ointments - in the treatment of skin diseases, kidney was also included in the composition of chest tea.

Methods of application:


1. 1 Art. spoonful of pine buds insist overnight in 0.5 liters of boiling water, take during the day for 20-40 minutes before meals in a warm form (E. А. Ladynina); or infusion of 10 g of buds in 250 ml of boiling water - 15 ml every 2 hours for respiratory diseases.


2. 15-20 g of pine buds boil 10-15 minutes in 300 ml of water over low heat, insist - 15 ml 3 times a day, and decoction 1 ch. spoonfuls of buds in 250 ml of water - for inhalation.


3. 20% tincture of pine buds on 40% alcohol - 1/2-1 tsp. spoon 3 times a day for bronchitis, pulmonary tuberculosis.


4. Terpingidrate 0.25 g - 1-2 tablets each. 2-3 times a day.


5. Pinabin - 5 drops 3 times a day on sugar for 20 minutes before meals for kidney stone disease, a course of 4-5 weeks, with colic - 20 drops once.


6. Liniment turpentine complex - externally for rubbing in neuralgia, myositis, rheumatism.


8. 10 g of pine buds boiled for 2 minutes in 250 ml of water, strain, used for sperinces and baths for trichomonadal and senile colpitis (E. Т. Mihailenko).



Pine preparations are not recommended in glomerulonephritis, hepatitis and pregnancy..
