Gastric and duodenal ulcer disease

Peptic ulcer disease is an ailment, usually of young people. The nature of the complaints allows us to judge the localization of the ulcer process in the stomach or duodenum.

The main and most frequent complaint of patients when peptic ulcer disease progresses is pain in the pancreatic region. Its appearance is associated with the ingestion of food. In peptic ulcer disease, pain usually occurs half an hour to an hour after eating and is usually felt either under the spoon or in the left subcostal region. In duodenal ulcer pain can be "hungry", that is, appear 2 hours or more after eating, sometimes at night ("night" pain). These pains are localized in the pancreas and right upper abdomen and usually disappear after eating. Often the pain of varying degrees of severity goes to the back, chest.

Peptic ulcer disease is often accompanied by heartburn, which is sometimes excruciating. Many patients have nausea, belching, appetite in peptic ulcer disease is usually not affected. Duodenal ulcer often leads to constipation, and the feces resemble sheep feces ("peas"), sometimes dark brown in color, which is due to the bleeding of the ulcer. In peptic ulcer disease, constipation is absent.
